users cannot print without logging into samba
Reported by cpg | February 1st, 2009 @ 07:52 PM | in Fedora 10 Release
i have two clients with windows xp home.
they seem to not be able to print unless they are logged into samba, say via file access.
i.e. the user has to open \hda\USERNAME or any other share, then input the credentials (which XP home does not remember - has to be done every time).
after being logged in, then they can print.
this is very tedious and hard to explain to my wife/kids.
the settings should allow printing without logging in. here are the existing printer-related settings:
[print$]
path = /var/lib/samba/drivers
read only = yes
force group = root
write list = @ntadmin root
force group = root
create mask = 0664
directory mask = 0775
guest ok = yes
[printers]
path = /var/spool/samba
writeable = yes
browseable = yes
printable = yes
public = yes
